I have been looking all over the net for my old favorite Hindi poems. There are several excellent sites, http://hindipoetry.wordpress.com being one of the best. I found many of my not-forgotten-neither-remembered ones here. But then I could not find this poem anywhere online. (And I could remember this one fully!!!)
I believe I learned it for a recitation competition. It is a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Don't remember the author's name, though. Here it is...
English version:
Shanth swaroopi murthy mahan
Jag jan ke praan samaan
Sathya ahimsa tere baan
Raam vachan me tan man dhyaan
He sukh shobha sundar dhyaam
Jag ka pyaara Mohan naam
Kehte the tum aadhom yaam
Kadhni peeche pehle kaam
Madhyapaan ko bandh karaaya
Deen dukhi ka dukh mitaaya
Jaath paath ko door bhagaaya
Jan jan keman prem badhaaya
He kaliyug avatar purush
Karm maarg ke atal purush
Veer dheer gambheer purush
Akhil lok ke amar purush
PS:
This is completely recollected from memory... Learned it more than a decade back... Do post comments if you spot any errors. Or if you simply liked it!
